BERRIEN COUNTY, Ind. -- The Cities of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph announced that they will be hosting the 2024 Grand Floral Parade this Saturday, May 11, at 1 p.m.

Organizers say road closures in St. Joseph will start at 10 a.m. This includes locking down the Bicentennial Bridge for the duration of the parade.

"Traffic entering St. Joseph from the north will be detoured west onto Port St. and then south on Lake Boulevard," organizers said. "Traffic wishing to continue south on M-63 will turn east onto Jones Street or continue south on Lake Boulevard for BL-94. Traffic coming from the south into St. Joseph will be diverted at westbound Jones St. and will follow the same route in reverse."

The detour will stay in effect until the end of the parade around 3:30 p.m. Parking during the parade will also be restricted.

In St. Joe, there will be no parking along the following public streets from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday:

  • 500 through the 1000 blocks of State Street.
  • 500 and 600 blocks of Market, Pearl, Park, Price and Jones Streets.
  • 700 through the 1000 blocks of Court Street.
  • 700 and 800 blocks of Park, Price, Jones and Hoyt Street.
  • 1000 block of Church Street.
  • 700 through the 1100 blocks of Pearl Street.

Any vehicles parked in these areas will be ticketed or towed.

"Blankets and chairs in the city of St. Joseph will not be allowed on the parade route until 6 a.m. on the day of the parade," said St. Jospeh Director of Public Safety Steve Neubecker. "Any blankets or chairs placed before that time will be removed and taken to the St. Joseph Department of Public Services located on Broad Street in St. Joseph."
