WARSAW, Ind. -- An 8-year-old boy died after he was hit by a car Monday.
The Warsaw Police Department was dispatched around 1:47 p.m. to a call about an injured child near the area of Husky Trail and North Pointe Drive near Harrison Elementary School.
When officials arrived, they found that an 8-year-old boy had been hit by a car.
Investigators said that the child was crossing Husky Trail at a crosswalk when the collision happened.
The suspected driver of that car that hit the child was identified at the scene as Raven Loubert, 24, of Tippecanoe, Indiana.
The child was taken to Whitley Parkview in Columbia City and was later pronounced dead by their medical staff.
The Warsaw Police Department is being assisted by Kosciusko County’s Fatal Team to investigate the accident further.
It was reported by officials that the boy was attending summer school at Harrison Elementary.
Harrison Elementary School released the following statement about the incident on Monday evening:
This afternoon, Warsaw Community Schools was informed a WCS student was struck by a motor vehicle on Husky Trail near Harrison Elementary. Warsaw Community Schools’ staff and administration extend their thoughts and prayers to those affected. The district is working alongside local law enforcement to assist in any way possible in their investigation.
