SOUTH BEND, Ind. - South Bend Police are looking for new recruits and have a one-day police testing event on June 24th to see if those interested physically qualify.
In preparation, SBPD invited ABC57's Kevin Warmhold and LeVon Whittaker to get a glimpse of the physical agility test.
But did they pass? Watch the video to find out!
SBPD’s upcoming Summer Prospect Day is designed to bring in new recruits.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment of police and detectives is projected to grow 3% from 2021 to 2031, slower than the average for all occupations.
Despite limited employment growth, there’s about 68,500 openings for police and detectives projected each year, on average.
Most of those openings are a result of transfers to different occupations or retirement.
