Adult male stabbed multiple times Wednesday night in Warsaw

WARSAW, Ind. -- According to the Warsaw Police Department, officers were called to the scene of a stabbing around 7:55 p.m. last night where they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds in multiple areas of his body.

Warsaw patrol officers were called to 214 Sophie Ln. in the Canterbury Apartments where they found the victim, but the suspect had already fled the scene.

After a 20-minute search, the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Izak Vincent Eugene Newton of Warsaw, was found at a nearby gravel pit and arrested.

Authorities say the victim was transported to Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital and from there, Lutheran Air transported the victim to Lutheran in Fort Wayne.  He had significant injuries, and his status is currently unknown.

Newton was charged with:

  • Attempted Murder, Level 1 Felony
  • Aggravated Battery, Level 3 Felony
  • Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon, Level 5 Felony
  • Invasion of Privacy, Class A Misdemeanor

"Warsaw detectives were called to the scene where a search warrant was requested and granted to be executed on the apartment where this incident originated.  Eyewitnesses were also interviewed in this case," authorities said.
