SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Friday evening, downtown South Bend was kicking off the celebrations for Independence Day at Howard Park.
The park had something for everyone, and it was free. Families got to enjoy live music with popular cover songs, activities - including tie dye, crafts, and coloring. There were also a variety of food options, including ten local vendors.
Aracely and her fiancé attended the celebration for their first time this year to celebrate their one-year anniversary. Aracely says she likes how the festivities include everyone, "I like that it's not so crowded, you have a lot of good options for kids and they're having fun, it's not just for grown-ups."
Another local, Eve Cheges, comes every year to Howard Park to watch the fireworks, saying it's her favorite tradition: "Just seeing friends, family come together to celebrate this wonderful day is really important and special."
