The snow sticks around
This past winter and spring, the lake’s average surface temperatures have been right around average, and they still are. On Thursday, St. Joseph and Michigan City beach temperatures were in the low 60s.
With some of the warmer days throughout May and the long stretch of 70s and 80s that we are currently in, it looks like the lake temperatures are going to start warming above average.
Here's our forecast for beach temperatures until July 1st. By the beginning of June, beach temps will be in the mid-60s to low 70s. By mid-June, temperatures will likely be above average, warming up our beach water temps into the upper 60s to mid-70s. By early July, we have equal chances for above and below normal temperatures, so it's likely that lake temps will be in the low to upper 70s.
