Benton Harbor parolee arrested on multiple drug charges

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich.- A 22-year-old parolee from Benton Harbor was taken into custody March 2 on several felony charges, including possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to the Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) and the Fifth District Crime Prevention Squad (DCPS).

Officials reported that troopers initiated a traffic stop on Pipestone Road, but the suspect failed to stop.

Though the chase was terminated due to unsafe conditions, police reported they later found the suspect's vehicle, and then apprehended the man following a short foot pursuit.

The suspect was taken to Berrien County Jail and is charged with parole violations including resisting and obstructing, maintaining a drug vehicle, and possession with intent to deliver, according to police.

Officials are not releasing the name of the suspect at this time pending court arraignment.
