BREMEN, Ind.-Firefighters in Bremen are taking a break from the heat to have some fun with the community. The 59th annual Bremen Fireman’s Festival is a perfect way to spend your Fourth of July weekend.
Events include a carnival, a martial arts demonstration, food tents, an arm wrestling competition and a 5K run.
The department looks forward to the event every year because it puts Bremen on the map.
“We get people from all over South Bend, Warsaw, Rochester,” said Eric Thornton, President of the Bremen Firemen’s Association. “It brings some extra business for the businesses in town,” Thornton said.
Not only do the businesses benefit from the festivities, so do the firefighters.
The festival is their largest fundraiser and they’re looking for more donations to update their equipment.
“It allows us to purchase some gear that is outdated,” Thornton said.
This year, they are in need of some new air packs.
