City approves tax abatement for future Nexus Center

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The work on the future "Nexus Center" continues with the South Bend Common Council approving a nine-year tax abatement, Monday.

Developers are planning $2.4 million of private investment at the former Praxair building on Main St. The abatements will provide a total savings of $102,180.

The Nexus Center will transform the existing 20,000 square foot facility into a resource center with a multi-purpose event space, outdoor amphitheater, and a commercial kitchen.

Construction is expected to start in March and will be concluded by early 2026.
