Dollar General armed robbery suspect arrested

South Bend Police: Parnell Nelson, Nelson\'s unique \"western-style\" firearm

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- South Bend Police were called to the Dollar General on Western Avenue, for a reported armed robbery, on Friday, March 15, around 8:00 p.m. 53-year-old Parnell Nelson has now been arrested.

The officers that arrived on scene were provided with a description of the suspect, and his unique, "western-style" firearm. 

Officers were able to quickly locate a male matching the suspect's description in the 2100 block of Oliver Street, after an investigation and analysis of the provided intel. 

A search warrant was granted for his vehicle, which several pieces of evidence were collected, including a firearm matching the description, provided by witnesses. 

53-year-old, Parnell Nelson, was arrested on multiple preliminary charges, and transported to the Saint Joseph County Jail, where he awaits a formal charging decision from the Saint Joseph County Persecutor's Office.
