Dowagiac police searching for missing pilot and plane

UPDATE: Martin was found dead alongside his plane Thursday afternoon about two miles north of Dowagiac.

DOWAGIAC, Mich. - The Dowagiac Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a pilot and plane that went missing on Sunday.

The pilot, 82-year-old Richard Martin, is missing alongside his plan, a Sonex Plane with tail number N569SX.

The Dowagiac Municipal Airport Manager said Martin regularly flies his plane for one to two hours on Sunday mornings.

He left the airport around 11 a.m. on Sunday.
