SOUTH BEND, Ind.-Thanksgiving is less than 24 hours away, but why wait until then to enjoy an early turkey dinner? The Downtown Soup Kitchen in South Bend will be hosting their annual free Thanksgiving feast Wednesday morning.
Twenty to thirty volunteers will be serving the classics: turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and even dessert!
“The community is so blessed to be able to have a meal like what we serve,” said Eric Frick, President of the Downtown Soup Kitchen Board. “There is not a lot of places in South Bend that do this kind of mission that we do.”
The kitchen also hosts early holiday meals for Christmas and Easter.
Organizers expect up to 350 guests. It begins at 11:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church at 333 N. Main Street in South Bend. Guests are asked to enter through the church’s side door on W. Madison St.
The soup kitchen is always looking for volunteers. You can find out how you can help and learn how you can make a donation to the kitchen HERE.
