Elkhart County deputies looking for driver in serious hit-and-run crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – Deputies are searching for the vehicle that struck and seriously injured a pedestrian on County Road 4 on Tuesday night.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on CR 4 west of CR 15 when the vehicle crashed in to a pedestrian walking in the same direction.

The vehicle left the scene and has not been located.

The crash happened around 11:20 p.m.

Deputies say the victim, 26-year-old Jacob Callahan, suffered a life-threatening head injury.

He is being treated at South Bend Memorial Hospital.
