GOSHEN, Ind. – July’s First Friday in Goshen is honoring the life and legacy of Police Chief Wade Branson.
Branson passed away in June from cancer.
From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the First Fridays Taskforce will be accepting donations. The money will go toward the Wade K. Branson Scholarship Fund, a scholarship Branson’s family created shortly after his passing.
“The Chief has just really been a thought leader in our community and bringing a lot of attention to bringing different groups of people together and really providing safety and care for the whole community,” said Gina Leichty, Downtown Goshen Event Manager. “We want to do our best to honor that legacy,”
Leichty says this First Friday is also special because it’s the 10th anniversary of the Goshen Cruisin’ Reunion.
She says Branson played an instrumental role in bringing that back to the area.
