Former high school teacher arrested on three counts of felony child seduction

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- Former Oregon-Davis High School teacher Kody Lowery has been arrested and charged with three counts of felony Child Seduction stemming from a relationship with a student in October of 2023.

According to court documents, Lowery had an inappropriate relationship with one of his students that was 16 years old.

"The allegations came to light after a rumor went around the school stating that Kody and the victim had gone to dinner together the night of October 13, 2023, after the victim had made a social media post," court documents state. "Forensics interviews, and formal interviews were conducted, but the victim and Kody both denied the allegations, or gave partial statements."

Lowery's employment at Oregon-Davis began on May 15, 2023, and lasted until his resignation on Oct. 26.

Authorities say an incident occurred at the Banks Apartments at 400 Truesdell Avenue in La Porte Indiana sometime or multiple times between Oct. 13-15 of last year.

Lowery's name was on the lease for an apartment in the complex and keycard logs show the keycard was active at the apartment between Oct. 13-15.

Court documents show that Lowery confessed to a family member that he "had sexual intercourse with the victim during the weekend of Oct. 13."

"During my interview with the victim, the victim was able to give the same details about the vehicle Lowery was driving, as well as stating the victim and Lowery had sexual intercourse and performed oral sex on one another at Lowery's apartment multiple times during the same weekend ..."
