MICHIANA – I & M released new information about restoration efforts following Saturday’s storms and also warned about a scam.
I & M reported Monday night that they have restored power to 99 percent of Indiana customers and about 86 percent of Michigan customers.
Crews were still working hard to complete restoration in the two states.
The numbers as of 9 p.m. are below:
INDIANA: 250
LaPorte County: 150
St. Joseph County: 100
MICHIGAN: 2,200
Berrien County: 2,100
Van Buren County: 100
I & M estimated that the remaining customers should see restoration by 3 p.m. Tuesday.
The company also warned customers about a scam involving Social Security numbers.
They received reports that some customers have been contacted by someone falsely claiming to be a part of the company.
The scammers were apparently asking for Social Security numbers before services can be restored to people.
I & M said that they will not ask for Social Security numbers related to calls about power outages.
Customers who have any questions should call the Indiana Michigan Power Customer Service. Michigan customers should call 800-311-6424 and Indiana customers should call 800-311-4634.
