Indiana Dunes celebrating winter solstice with sunset hike

INDIANA DUNES -- Indiana Dunes National Park is inviting the public to join them for a winter solstice hike conclude on the shores of Lake Michigan. 

The hike will start at the Dune Ridge Trail on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 3 p.m. and go for about two hours. Guests are being asked to meet at the Kemil Beach parking lot one mile north of US12 on East State Park Road. 

"Catch the sunset and enjoy the sweeping views of the Great Marsh from the top of the Dune Ridge Trail," the park announced. "After the hike, walk down to the shore of Lake Michigan and celebrate the shortest day of the year as we look forward to lengthening days."
