Infamous celebrity O.J. Simpson has died

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- At 10:28 a.m. on Thursday morning, the official Twitter account of Orenthal James (O.J.) Simpson released a statement that confirms Simpson passed away as a result of cancer.

"On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren," the post reads. "During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace. -The Simpson Family"

He was 76 years old.
