LaGrange tax levy vote passes by overwhelming majority

LAGRANGE, Ind. -- Voter turnout in LaGrange was low but the win margin was not.

A huge majority of voters in the Westview School District voted to approve a new tax levy which will help support school operations.

The final tally of the vote was 692 in favor in comparison to 59 against.

The new rate will not go past 29.4 cents per $100 of assessed value over the next eight year period, and it will allow the district to fund educational programs, maintain classroom sizes and facilities available to students.

The school board says no additional programs will be added to the agenda.
