Local business leaders donate equipment to police department

ELKHART, Ind. -- Two local business leaders have donated equipment to the Elkhart Police Department.

The CEO Of Flexco Products, Thomas Jellison, purchased a Case IH Scout and a drone with a high definition camera and thermal imaging for the department.

The CEO of Gaska Tape Inc, Jack Smith, assisted with the department's transition to new handguns. He will be providing the funds to make up the difference between the cost of the new handguns and the trade-in value of the old handguns. He also purchased new holsters and magazine pouches for each of the department's officers.

“As our police department seeks innovative ways to improve public safety, we must operate within the confines of the municipal budget,” said Mayor Tim Neese. “Each year, the criminal element becomes more advanced, and generous donations such as this help us to stay ahead.”

The donations represent approximately $45,000 in new equipment for the department.
