Man sentenced after showing weapon at crime scene

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A 20-year-old from South Bend was sentenced for brandishing, or showing, a firearm during an altercation.

Andrew Jacobs was sentenced to seven years imprisonment followed by two years of supervised released, according to the District Court Judge’s office.

Another 20-year-old South Bend man was sentenced in the same case in April.

Official documents said Jacobs and the other man placed an advertisement for escort services on a website. A man responded and arranged to have sex with a prostitute at a hotel.

The 20-year-olds waited for the man and allegedly beat him with a revolver. The documents said the men stole cash, credit cards, and a cell phone as well.

A revolver was used to beat the victim at the scene.

The FBI investigated this case and it was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney’s Maciejczyk and Hays.
