Michiana businesses earn Governor's Half-Century, Century business awards

Several businesses throughout the state were honored with the Governor's Half-Century or Century business awards for their longstanding service to their community. Multiple Michiana businesses were honored.

2022 Century Award honorees:

  • Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center (Funeral services) 126 years; LaPorte County
  • Niezgodski Plumbing Inc. (Plumbing & HVAC) 100 years; St. Joseph County
  • South Bend Medical Foundation Inc. (Health) 110 years; St. Joseph County

2022 Half-Century Award honorees:

  • Ad-Vance Magnetics Inc. (Magnetic Shielding) 51 years; Fulton County
  • Big and Tall Outlet (Retail) 51 years; Elkhart County
  • Pierceton Trucking Company Inc. (Transportation) 67 years; Kosciusko County
  • Shaffner Heaney Associates Inc. (Architectural distributor) 51 years; St. Joseph County
  • South Bend Orthopaedics (Health) 75 years; St. Joseph County
  • Stephenson's of Elkhart Inc. (Retail) 91 years; Elkhart County

“Recognizing Hoosier businesses and their accomplishments for not only for decades of resilience and hard work but for the lasting impact on Indiana’s economy is a true honor,” said Gov. Eric Holcomb. “Through strong drive and dedication, these businesses have set the tone of Indiana’s past, present and future economy and provide confidence in knowing for the next 100 years, Indiana will be on a journey to success.”

"Owning and operating a business takes a lot of hard work and determination," said State Rep. Dale DeVon, R-Granger. "These businesses are great examples of perseverance. I'll continue to support a business-friendly environment where employers want to stay and expand."

The businesses were honored on August 16.

More than 1,200 businesses have received the award over the past 31 years.
