Riley student charged for bringing a gun into school

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - A 16-year-old student was charged after bringing a gun into Riley High School on Tuesday.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office charged Kewuan Johnson with unlawful carrying of a handgun, which holds a sentencing range of one to six years.

Johnson's charge is a felony because the gun was on school property.

He is being charged as an adult because he was at least 16 years old when he committed the felony.  

Johnson is being held at the St. Joseph County Jail.

His arraignment is set for Thursday.
