South Bend Community School Corporation names Katherine Reighter 2024 Teacher of the Year
South Bend Community School Corporation SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. --A fourth-grade teacher at Marshall Traditional School, Katherine Reighter, is recognized as the 2024 Teacher of the Year, for the South Bend Community School Corporation.
A lower elementary teacher at Marquette Montessori Academy, Emily Dobson, was named the district's runner-up.
The district's top administrators gathered Thursday night at the Adams High School auditorium, to honor 30 nominees from across the district, all of which were chosen by peers from their respective schools, designating them for Teacher of the Year of their school.
A group of evaluators, consisting of current and retired teachers, selected an "honors group" of 10, from the 30 nominees.
Reighter will receive a $2,500 Professional Growth Grant from the South Bend Education Foundation, as Teacher of the Year.
Reighter will additionally represent the South Bend Community School Corporation as a state level 2023-2024 Indiana Teacher of the Year candidate.
