South Shore Line shutting down ticket offices at two stations

CHICAGO -- On Tuesday afternoon, the South Shore Line announced that ticket offices at Millennium Station and the Carroll Avenue stations. Ticket Office will be permanently closed starting Friday, April 26.

"After careful consideration and review of usage, the closures will allow the SSL to better allocate ticket agent resources," the train company announced. "Currently, nearly 85 percent of SSL ticket purchases are digital, including 62 percent via the mobile app and 22 percent via station Ticket Vending Machines. Ticket agent sales make up just four percent of total ticket sales."

After April 26, passengers may continue to purchase train tickets from any station Ticket Vending Machine or the South Shore mobile phone app.
