Steph Curry's Underrated Golf Tour coming to Notre Dame this summer

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Underrated Golf Tour will be making a stop at the University of Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course July 22-24, four-time NBA Champion and two-time MVP Steph Currey announced on X, formally known as Twitter, Tuesday afternoon.

Season three of the U.S. Underrated Golf Tour will kick-off at the Old Barnwell Golf Course in Aiken, S.C., June 21-23, and stop at a total of four courses across the country, including Pumpkin Ridge Ghost Creek Golf Club in Portland, Ore. July 8-10, and TPC San Antonio in Texas Aug. 7-9,

“Golf has always been one of the most powerful vehicles to spark professional and social conversations,” said Curry. “We are lucky to collaborate with our amazing partners at KPMG who work with our Underrated Golf team to design engaging programs and opportunities for our junior golfers."

According to the tour's website, for each U.S. stop, 96 athletes will participate in tournament style events and team building activities while simultaneously networking with college golf coaches and golf executives.

The tour gives many young golfers their first opportunity to play on an established professional course, and ultimately, 24 of the best boys and girls will emerge from the tour to compete for the Curry Cup at the Underrated Tour Championship to end the season.

"For the very first time ever, the Curry Cup will take place outside of the Bay Area and will move to The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, NJ, September 2-5," the website says.

Organizers of the tour say Underrated is an inspiring lifestyle brand with a mission to empower underrated and underrepresented individuals all over the world.

"With a passion for celebrating the underdog, Underrated echoes this message across three main categories including experiences, media and physical product," the company says.

The brand was started by Steph Curry in 2019 and draws on the revered athlete's personal story as an underappreciated three-star athlete in high school who always stood in the shadows of his peers.

"Each year, we set out to provide underrepresented individuals access to the game who have never had it before, along with invaluable opportunities and benefits that come with the game of golf," Curry said. "However, Underrated Golf is so much more than just the sport. This special program prioritizes off-course endeavors including special seminars that focus on a multitude of disciplines with an emphasis on business ethics, and various career opportunities across the golf industry and beyond.”

Organizers say that LPGA Tour player Mariah Stackhouse will serve as the brand's ambassador for the U.S. Tour, where she’ll host the KPMG Leadership Day at the season ending Curry Cup.

The company says over the last several years, Stackhouse's off-the-course endeavors have focused on positively impacting the diversity pipeline in competitive junior golf and empowering young athletes to become leaders on and off the course.

“The experience at Curry Cup and the KPMG Leadership Development Day last year was special”, said Stackhouse. “Underrated is about so much more than golf. It’s about a shared goal of empowering the next generation in meaningful ways by imparting the critical success factors that go into winning, far beyond what you see in a final score. I’m honored to be part of this family alongside Steph and my friends at KPMG and look forward to elevating Underrated even further this year”.
