UPDATE: Attempted Murder suspect sentenced after entering plea agreement

UPDATE: Court records out of Whitley County, Indiana reveal Attempted Murder suspect Horacio Castro has entered a guilty plea agreement for the June 14, 2025, shooting of Jayden Habegger of Warsaw.

Castro has been sentenced to 30 years in prison with four years suspended and 233 days of jail credit.

ORIGINAL STORY: WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. -- A suspect was arrested and charged for the shooting of a Warsaw teen on June 14 in South Whitley, Ind.

A probable cause affidavit obtained from the Whitley County Circuit Court reveals the Whitley County Sheriff's Department responded to 2900 W. 900 South where there was a large party at the time involving over 100 juveniles and young adults.

Authorities' investigation determined an argument had turned into a physical altercation, which led to a large fight. Horacio A. Castro then allegedly left the fight to grab a gun and returned, shooting Jayden Habegger of Warsaw.

After being shot, documents state Habegger ran to a ditch on the south side of 900 South where deputies found him when they arrived.

Castro is charged with one count of Attempted Murder, Attempted Intentional Killing of Another.

Authorities say they have obtained video of the shooting in which witnesses identified Castro as the person holding the gun and shooting Habegger.
