JUNE 30 UPDATE: Authorities have released more info on the train vs. vehicle accident that claimed one life on Saturday.
Authorities say their investigation indicates 92-year-old Georgia Johnson, of Granger, was traveling north on Spring Street and drove under the lowered crossing arms at the railroad crossing, which were indicating the approaching eastbound Norfolk Southern train just prior to the collision.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene and there were no passengers.
Currently, the investigation has concluded.
ORIGINAL: MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- At approximately 6:12p.m., the Mishawaka Police Department responded to a train vs car accident at the Spring Street crossing, between Fourth and Sixth Streets in Mishawaka.
Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area.
There is no word on injuries at this time, but we will update as more information becomes available.
