Two men indicted for theft of 123 guns from Dunham's

BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Darnell Bishop and Dontrell Nance of Benton Harbor are being charged with kidnapping, robbery, and stealing guns from a federally licensed firearm dealer.

Nance also has a charge for being a felon in possession of firearms.

Both men face up to life in prison if convicted.

“We are experiencing a gun violence epidemic across our country,” said U.S. Attorney Totten. “Incidents like what happened at Dunham’s Sports are stunning illustrations of crimes that are dumping guns into our neighborhoods and fueling the gun crisis. We are grateful to law enforcement for recovering nearly all the guns, and my office fully intends to satisfy our burden and prove this case in court.”

Bishop and Nance have a prior charge by complaint.

Allegedly on November 16, 2023, Bishop and Nance approached the Dunham's store manager outside of his house at gun point.

They then handcuffed and blindfolded the manager and took him to another location where they forced him to grant security access to the Dunham's store.

Bishop entered the Dunham's store after taking the manager's keys and stole 120 handguns inside of two large coolers.

Police recovered all but one gun.

Investigators searched property associated with Bishop and Nance on November 17, 2023, and found stolen Dunham's firearms as well as an additional pistol.

That same day both men were taken into custody.
