While the path of totality will not cross through any section of Michiana, the University of Notre Dame has a wide range of events both leading up to and on April 8.
Keith Davis, the director of the university's Digital Visualization Theater (DVT), is giving his eclipse education presentation called "Into the Shadow" on Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6.
On April 8, the day of the total solar eclipse, Davis and his staff will utilize the DVT, Irish Green, and other spaces on campus to give the public an opportunity to watch the cosmic event closer to home.
Outside, the university will have solar telescopes set up for viewing and eclipse glasses for attendees.
Inside the DVT among other spaces, viewers can watch the total solar eclipse via livestream from a plethora of locations across the country.
While all events open to the public are free to attend, the university asks that you register online ahead of time to ensure adequate amounts of supplies and volunteers are available.
More information on the University of Notre Dame's events can be found on our website here or on the university's website.
