Local Conservation Officers searching for deer poacher

Indiana Conservation Officers are seeking any available information about the illegal taking of a whitetail deer at Saint Patrick’s County Park.

The deer was shot around 4:00 p.m. Sunday on a walking trail inside the park.

Witnesses say they heard the shot and saw the poacher with the deer.

The suspect was described as a white male, heavy set, approximately 50-years-old, and had a gray beard.

Officers say he was wearing a tan shirt.

Two boys with long hair, approximately 13 years old, were with the suspect.

One witness described the firearm as possibly being a .22 caliber rifle and the wound sustained by the deer is consistent with that of a small caliber rifle or handgun.

A reward is offered for any information leading to the arrest of a poacher.

Anyone with information on this or any other poaching is urged to call 1-800-TIP-IDNR.
