Alex Perez is facing two counts of first degree murder in Berrien County.

He was arrested in Georgetown Colorado early Friday morning.

A Clear Creek County Sheriff's deputy noticed a car that was parked but running with its lights on. When he ran the plates, he learned the vehicle and driver were the subject of an Amber Alert.

Renee and Perez's two daughters were in the vehicle and unharmed.

Berrien County is seeking extradition.

Perez appeared in court on Friday, but did not waive extradition.

Instead, he asked for an attorney.

His next court hearing in Colorado will be January 25.

According to Berrien County officials, Perez was arrested in October 2014 on a probation violation on a domestic violence conviction.
