Second suspect charged in Miami Hills murder

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against a second person in the December 24 murder of Clevee Chick.

Bruce Dewayne Thomas III has been charged with murder in Chick's death.

Tyshawn Williams was charged with murder on December 28.

Thomas was ordered held without bond.

Chick was shot and killed in a third floor apartment of the Miami Hills apartment complex on S. High Street in South Bend.

According to witnesses, Chick and several other people were in the apartment when someone knocked on the apartment door. When Chick and a woman answered the door, they saw Williams and another man pointing guns into the apartment.

Williams and another woman in the apartment had been in a relationship in the past and was the father of two of her children. Witnesses told police Williams had recently threatened to kill her, according to the probable cause affidavit.

When they saw the guns, Chick closed the door and everyone dove for cover.

Chick was still in front of the door when the men began firing at the door.

Chick was shot in the back of the head and the shoulder, according to the probable cause affidavit.
