Car catches fire, another overturns after crash Friday

Elkhart County deputies responded to a serious accident that sent one person to the hospital Friday night.

The crash happened around 11:14 p.m. in Elkhart County.

Police say 20-year-old Micah Kemp was heading east on US Highway 6 just east of County Road 13 when his vehicle crossed left of center.

That’s when police say Kemp collided head on with a 30-year-old driver of Covington, Indiana and both vehicles ran off the roadway.

Kemp’s vehicle then caught on fire and the other vehicle overturned as a result of the crash, according to police.

Kemp was transported from the scene and taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for arm and head injuries.

Police have not released any further details regarding this crash.
