Vigil held for "sweet little soul" Blaike Glassburn

A vigil was held Saturday night for the 10-year-old Mishawaka boy killed while camping.

Blaike Glassburn died  Tuesday morning when a tree branch fell on his tent at Indiana Beach's campground.

The community honored Blaike at a gathering at the Twin Branch Elementary School singing songs, sharing memories and releasing lanterns into the sky.

He was described by family and friends as a “sweet little soul” who loved playing basketball, eating at Hacienda and watching the Cubs.

Many of the boy’s classmates spoke about how much they cared for him.

“Whenever I’d have a bad day, I would look at his smile and it would fix my day. I could depend on that because it was always there.”

Services will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. The viewing will be Friday the 24th from 6-8 p.m. and the funeral will be Saturday the 25th at 1 p.m.
