Amber Pasztor officially charged with murder in the deaths of her children

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -

The Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against Amber Pasztor, who is accused of killing her children, Liliana Hernandez and Rene Pasztor.

Amber Pasztor was arrested on September 26 after she flagged down an Elkhart Police officer.

Her two children were dead in the back seat of her vehicle, according to police.

She and the children were subjects of an AMBER Alert issued earlier in the day after the children were abducted from their home in Fort Wayne where they lived with their grandparents.

The probable cause affidavit, which was released on September 28, detailed Pasztor's arrest.

She allegedly told officers she had kicked down the door of her father's house in Fort Wayne and abducted the children.

She also allegedly admitted to smothering them with her hands.

Both children died of asphyxiation.

Pasztor was charged with two counts of murder.

The prosecutor's office says Pasztor is also a suspect in the murder of Frank Macomber, whose body was discovered near the children's house near Fort Wayne. Investigators in Allen County are working that case.

An initial hearing for Pasztor is scheduled for October 3.

Bond is not set for murder charges.
