Another round of rain, then a cool weekend
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A person has been taken into custody following a standoff at a residence in the area of the Farmington Hills subdivision in northern St. Joseph County, according to investigators on scene.
South Bend Police, St. Joseph County Police, Indiana State Police and Clay Township Fire all responded to the scene just before noon on Wednesday.
South Bend Police were looking for a person of interest in a shooting that happened October 8 in the 900 block of Huey around noon
Police said the home is not the subject's residence, but he has connections to a resident of the subdivision.
Nearby residents were asked to stay in their homes and Ironwood Road was shut down between Lisbon and Farmington Hills Drive for 2 hours.
Around 2 p.m. police found the suspect hiding in a basement. The subject was taken into custody without injury.
The suspect, 26-year-old Bernard Pinkerton, was arrested on outstanding warrants for unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possession of marijuana with a prior drug offense conviction, false informing, operating a motor vehicle with a controlled substance in person’s body, and possession of marijuana.
