Walker sentenced for 2021 murder of Montell O’Neal

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Today, 25-year-old Javante Walker was sentenced to 60 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections for the September 12, 2021, murder of 24-year-old Montell O’Neal of South Bend.

A jury found Walker guilty of murdering O'Neal and tacked on a firearm enhancement back on Feb. 15 of this year, and on Thursday, he was sentenced to 55 years for the murder plus 10 years for the firearm enhancement.

Those sentences will be served consecutively.

The sentencing range for the offense of Murder is 45 to 65 years.

The sentence range for the firearm enhancement is 5 to 20 years.
