1 Child killed, 3 people hurt after buggy crashes into semi

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- A 7-and-a-half-month-old boy was killed and three others hurt after an Amish buggy crashed into a semi truck on State Road 120 just after noon on Monday.

According to the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department the semi and the buggy were both traveling east on State Road 120.  For unknown reasons the buggy turned into the truck as the semi attempted to pass it, the buggy smashed into the rear of the trailer just west of the intersection with County Road 675 West.

All four passengers in the buggy were ejected in the crash.  The 7-and-a-half-month-old boy was pronounced dead on scene from head injuries.  The buggy driver and one of the passengers were airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne with minor injuries, another was taken to Parkview LaGrange also with minor injuries.

The accident is still under investigation by the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police.
