1 airlifted by MedFlight to hospital following Elkhart crash
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – A woman is listed in critical condition following a crash Friday afternoon.
According to Elkhart police, Oct. 19 at approximately 4:43 p.m., officials received a call regarding a crash at C.R. 37 and C.R. 40 about one mile north of the Millersburg city limits.
Police say 35-year-old Nicole Smith, of Kendallville, Indiana was traveling eastbound on C.R 37 when she disregarded a stop sign and pulled in front of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 45-year-old Jeffrey Troyer.
Troyer was traveling southbound on C.R.50 when his front-end collided with the driver’s side of Smith’s vehicle, police say.
Smith required extrication from the Fusion and was transported to Memorial Hospital by MedFlight where she is listed in critical condition.
Troyer was treated at the scene.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
