10-year-old injured in boating accident on Fish Lake

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- A 10-year-old boy from Granger was injured in a boating accident on Fish Lake, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Department.

Owen Juaquess was on his tube when he hit a large wave, which caused him to come off his tube and strike the water. He suffered a back injury, deputies said.

The boat's operator, and spotter and family members on the boat took the appropriate precautions until EMS arrived on scene.

Juaquess was taken to Bronson Lakeview Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor and personal floatation devices were used, deputies said.
