15-month-old killed by vehicle delivering farm animals
WOLCOTTVILLE, Ind. -- A 15-month-old boy was killed when a truck delivering calves backed over him, according to the La Grange County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to a home in the 3500 block of S 500 E. around 11:30 a.m. Monday.
The driver told deputies he pulled into the driveway, turned around and pulled up beside the barn. After a short conversation with the toddler's father, the driver began to back up after checking his mirrors, reports said.
As he backed up, he struck something, so he stopped and went around the front passenger side of the truck and located the 15-month-old on the ground with injuries, reports said.
The child, Steven Schrock, was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Fort Wayne where he died of his injuries.
No charges are being sought in this case, according to deputies.
