15-year-old shot in Elkhart Monday afternoon

ELKHART, Ind. – A 15-year-old girl was shot in Elkhart Monday afternoon, the Elkhart Police Department reported.

At 4:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to a hospital for a shooting report.

The victim, a 15-year-old, said she received a gunshot wound to the lower extremities while she was walking in the area of Marion Street and Oakland Avenue between 2:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., reports said.

The injury is non-life-threatening, according to police.

No suspect information is currently available.
