17-year-old dies after being struck by train Saturday

HUDSON LAKE, Ind. – A 17-year-old girl died at South Bend Memorial Hospital Saturday night after being struck by a South Shore train in Hudson Lake earlier that day.
According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the South Shore railroad tracks in the area of East Bell Avenue and North Cottage Grove Avenue around 12:30 p.m.
The 17-year-old girl was found underneath the fifth train car still alive. She was flown to Memorial Hospital where she died that night.
Deputies say the incident is still under investigation.
