ELKHART, Ind.-- Today, the Rotary Club of Elkhart hosted a "Pints for Polio" event at the Sports Time Family Pub & Grill.
Aiming to raise $1,000, funds are used to help children from other countries receive the Polio vaccine.
With today being World Polio Day, 15 percent of funds raised from this community event went towards the International Rotary Club's Polio Eradication Fund to help fund vaccines for children overseas.
"We're still working hard to eradicate it [polio], and we must remember the disease is only a flight away." Terri Rickel, District Governor Elect of Rotary Elkhart, said. "So, if someone has that, and they fly into a country that does not have it, the disease can spread fairly quickly, so our goal is to eradicate it"
Those who did not attend "Pints for Polio" but still want to make a difference can donate online.
