Elkhart Noon Kiwanis Club ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Noon Kiwanis Club in partnership with the Elkhart County Health Department will host a Bike Safety Rodeo for children in grades K-6.
The event will have an educational and interactive bicycle safety course with various stations set up to help kids with riding safely. There will be free giveaways for all kids who register and participate in the bike safety rodeo, including helmets for those who do not have one. There will also be a drawing to give away two new bikes, one for a boy and one for a girl.
This event will be held on Sunday, June 7, from Noon to 4:00 p.m., at The Tolson Center. This event is free to the public. Students are encouraged to preregister.
The Kiwanis Club of Elkhart is thrilled to again sponsor the Bike Safety Rodeo for elementary school kids in our community,” states Ron Sherck, Kiwanis Bike Safety Rodeo Coordinator. “Our goal is to provide safety gear and interactive education that is fun and helps protect our kids out there on their bikes this Summer. We invite parents to register their kids for this free event!”
During the Bike Safety Rodeo event, kids will get to “drive” a mapped-out course to learn and practice safety skills that may help save their lives. With help from the Elkhart Health Department, kids will learn the importance of wearing a bike helmet, basic rules of the road, hand turn signals and basic traffic safety signs. This event will take place in conjunction with The Tolson Center’s Summer Kickoff party.
Students are asked to ride or bring their bike to this event. Parents can pre-register their kids by going to the Facebook Event.
