GRANGER, Ind. – Thousands of volunteers will help fill boxes with food at the 20th annual Food Drop at Granger Community Church on Saturday, Jan 22 at 9 a.m.

They’re expecting to pack around 2,000 boxes filled with food items for communities across Michiana.

Volunteers will meet at one of two locations, the Granger Campus located near University Drive or the Elkhart campus near Bristol Street to help pack and load boxes, each filled with 21 food items onto trucks for delivery to people in need.

“You’re doing something for our community, for our Michiana, and it's something that, when we do it together, it just feels good to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. And we know we’re making an impact,” Granger Community Church, Lead Pastor Ted Bryant said.

Lead Pastor Bryant said a total of 97,600 pounds of food will be distributed to over 6,000 families. Once boxes are all filled up, the trucks will ship them all out to local shelters, neighborhoods, and food pantries across Michiana.

Volunteers can also help in distributing the boxes of food to families.

“You can be a part of some of the caravans going to these different neighborhoods to deliver the boxes door to door for these families,” Lead Pastor Bryant said. “And they are all so incredibly appreciative and we also have the opportunity to take their prayer request,”

Over the last 20 years, the annual food drop has distributed over a million pounds of food throughout Michiana.
