27-year Indiana State Police veteran set to retire from the force

Indiana State Police First Sergeant Don McCay, of the Bremen Post, will be retiring soon after 27 years of service with Indiana State Police.

After graduating from New Prairie High School and getting his PhD from Purdue University, McCay began his career with ISP in 1994 after graduating from the Recruit Academy.

During his time with ISP, McCay specialized in areas of Use of Force Analyst, Hostage Crisis Negotiator, Law Enforcement Training Board Master Instructor, Level A Hazmat Operator, and served on the Clandestine Lab Team.

McCay’s expertise will continue to benefit Indiana law enforcement as he begins his new role as a Performance Management Process and Training Coordinator with the Indiana High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area in northwest Indiana.
