29-year-old driver killed in Elkhart County crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.—A 29-year-old driver was killed in a crash on September 12 on U.S. 33 near U.S. 6.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, a 2012 Dodge Caravan driven by 29-year-old Sharon Cuttriss on Huntington stopped at a stop sign in the southbound lane of U.S. 33 at U.S. 6 and went to make a left turn onto U.S. 6 around 5:25 p.m.

While making the turn, Cuttriss was struck by a 1998 Freightliner driven by a 61-year-old man from Wakarusa.

According to the sheriff’s office, Cuttriss had failed to yield the right of way to the Freightliner.

Cuttriss passed away as a result of her injuries in the crash, police said.

The driver of the Freightliner was uninjured.
