BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A house party turned into a crime scene in Benton Township early Sunday morning.
Three women in their early thirties were shot at the party in a lawn area on Eastern Avenue at 2:30 in the morning.
According to police, Tiera Clark suffered a gunshot wound to her chest and throat area, Holli Meridys’ wound was to her shoulder, and Alicia Watson’s wound was to her neck.
ABC57 spoke with neighbors who live on the street.
Terry Caldwell Sr. has lived in the neighborhood for 21years; he was surprised when he found out about the shooting Monday morning. “I said wow that’s weird, you know because we’ve never had anything like that happen on this street.”
“It’s just silly and useless to try and take people’s lives, or try to hurt people that way,” Caldwell said.
Caldwell explained there usually isn’t trouble in the neighborhood. “The only thing we have trouble with is sometimes people speed down the street, but other than that, it’s very quiet.”
Investigators say the suspect has not been identified, and the motive is still unknown.
This investigation is still ongoing.
If you have any information you’re asked to call the Benton Township Police.
